ArcGIS Pro: Understanding the Table of Contents

Introduction:

This course provides a practical, editor-focused overview of the ArcGIS Pro Contents pane and its six primary organizational tabs, emphasizing how each can be used to improve efficiency, accuracy, and map readability during day-to-day workflows. While underlying data is managed by administrators through the geodatabase, the Contents pane offers powerful tools that allow users to control layer visibility, drawing order, selection behavior, editability, snapping, and labeling without altering the data itself. Through a combination of conceptual explanations and hands-on walkthroughs, learners gain a clear understanding of how each tab presents the same layers through a different functional lens, enabling better control over complex maps, reducing errors during editing, and streamlining common tasks such as feature creation, QA/QC, and visual review.
