Description

Introduction:

This is the stand-alone version of lesson 9 out of 11 in the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Learning Path.

This lesson keeps the online, self-paced learning path in sync with the live training workshops that we have historically conducted.  Lesson 9 is a Build Your Own Network lesson that we typically review together during live trainings, but since an instructor is not present for live feedback for this lesson, this lesson is optional as part of the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Learning Path.  Since this is an optional course, it is provided for free.

For those that are participating in the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Learning Path, please begin the lesson for further instructions.  Even though this is an optional course, some actions are required before you can proceed to Lesson 10.

If you are looking at this lesson outside of the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Learning Path and you would like feedback from the GEOGRAPH Academy team on a network that you have built, please begin the course and follow the instructions within.

This course utilizes the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Training Resources dataset, which can be downloaded from the GEOGRAPH Academy Resources page.  If you do not already have this dataset, please download it and use the project within that resource file throughout this course.

Once enrolled, click the Start button in the top right of this page to begin the first module.

Objectives

Objectives:

This lesson incorporates everything learned in lessons 1-8:

  1. Introduction to CrescentLink
  2. Work Order Management
  3. Fiber Cable Management
  4. Splice Points & Connectivity
  5. Managing Network Equipment
  6. Cable Counts & Esri Labeling
  7. Path Network Management
  8. Additional Cable Management:

Using what you know about building networks in CrescentLink, design a network that contains a backbone trunk, a couple feeder routes branching off of the main trunk, and add all the necessary components to create connectivity throughout the network.  Ensure that you have some half-lit circuits that are ready to provide service to service locations.  For those that are participating in this course within the CrescentLink for ArcGIS Pro Learning Path, there is no need to go so far as to create service drops just yet as you will get practice doing that in Lesson 10.  For anyone looking at this course outside of the learning path, feel free to be as thorough as you wish.
